Spinach Ornamental, Malabar Red

Length: 6-10 feet  Width : 2-3 feet. Full sun. Beautiful ornamental spinach with dark reddish stems and deep green leaves. Vigorous vining habit.  Best grown on a trellis.  Leaves are edible. For best results, keep the soil consistently moist. Without consistent moisture, the plant will flower prematurely and leaves will turn bitter.  The plant is grown in 4.5'' pots.  All products will be available, while supplies last, beginning opening day (4th Tuesday of April) at Rooted For Good Kirkland (formerly Walnut Grove Vocational Farm) located at 33600 Pearl St. Kirkland, IL 60146.  Greenhouse closes the last Saturday in June.  Photo courtesy of Ball Horticultural Co.
